Career Services

Gretna Career College’s Career Services department provides individual assistance to students seeking externships, a job-shadowing experience for the students to gain understanding of the working world.

For over 20 years, GCC has been assisting our students with job placement. GCC’s job placement specialist maintains a close working relationship with employers related to career field programs.

Career development is a vital part of Gretna Career College. Job placement is how GCC measures success for both its students and itself. The college provides a full array of career development and placement services.

  • Effective Resume Writing Techniques — Resumes will include experience that demonstrates the skills and knowledge important to a new career as well as the new expertise obtained during class. The Career Services Office will present a resume-writing workshop during your time at GCC.
  • Effective Interviewing Technique — Interviewing techniques include making a positive first impression and building on that impression. The confidence students develop during GCC’s career training will be projected during the interviews with employers. The Career Services Office offers individualized sessions on interview training.
  • Interview Opportunities — Gretna Career College will assist with employment contacts during the final portion of professional training. The majority of our graduates obtain positions almost immediately after they graduate. Many of the positions students and graduates receive are not advertised publicly but rather through the Career Services Office.
  • Externships — (when applicable) The career transition phase of the programs allows students to begin using their newly acquired skills on the job, while still within the framework of the academic environment. Externships provide work experience and support during this critical and challenging time. Leads for externships can be found through the Career Services Office, program instructors and students alike.
  • Career-Long Placement — Placement assistance is always available to alumni even after working in the industry.

Career preparation, is provided throughout the duration of your training by instructors, the student representative and the career development coordinator. This team will help you with your detailed job search during the last phase of your program. Companies are looking for serious employees.
