The Associate in Occupational Studies – Medical Office Administration program provides the required skills to serve as a Medical Office Administrator/Office Manager/Health Information Manager, building on the strong clerical foundation in business computer applications, business communications, and bookkeeping.

Students are provided the opportunity to specialize in medical office management with an emphasis on medical billing. Students receive a strong clerical foundation as a prerequisite for specializing in medical office procedures, insurance coding and billing, medical transcription, medical records management, health information systems, and medical office management.

In addition to learning medical terminology, anatomy/physiology, diagnostic and procedural coding, and medical insurance claims, students will gain proficiency using the MediSoft Suite – the powerful electronic management program used by today’s health care providers.

Students train for intermediate level positions as medical clerical professionals, medical coding specialists, auditing medical records, managing health information in a variety of settings: doctors’ offices, out patient clinics, hospitals, and health insurance companies. The program prepares students to sit for national certification exams through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) and the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). An Associate in Occupational Studies – Medical Office Administration degree is awarded upon satisfactory completion of all graduation requirements.
